8th Annual National Cyber Security Summit
“A Complete Success!”

The 8th Annual National Cyber Security Summit was held June 7th – 9th at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama. This year’s summit was especially successful with over 1500 attendees not including exhibitors and sponsors. This number represents an over 50% increase from last year’s Summit! Speakers from DHS, NICE, NIST, FBI, DIA, NASA and the DOJ were just a few of the government departments that presented over the course of the event.

Private industry and Education were also well represented. Speakers from Auburn University, University of Alabama Huntsville, Dynetics, Deloitte, Booz Allen Hamilton, SurfWatch Labs and IBM Security were just some of the colleges and companies presenting this year.

A few of this year’s very distinguished cyber security professionals speaking were the Honorable Mike Rogers, Former US House of Representative from Michigan, James C. Trainor, Jr., Assistant Director of the Cyber Division at FBI, Marine Corps Lt. General Vince Stewart, Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and Mr. John Matherley, Founder & CEO of Shodan.

Again this year, the NSA and DHS presented their National Centers of Academic Excellence Certificates during an evening ceremony at the Space and Rocket Center. Suzanne Spaulding, the Under Secretary, National Protection and Programs Directorate, Department of Homeland Security presided over this event where a number of colleges and universities from across the nation were recognized as National Centers of Academic Excellence.

The dates for the 9th Annual National Cyber Security Summit have already been announced. The Summit will once again be held at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama, on June 6th – 8th, 2017.
